Best villa in Kasauli for staycation

Early November in 2020, we F.R.I.E.N.D.S went for a staycation to Kasauli to celebrate one of ours baby shower and what a charming villa it was- Villa 16 at The Woodside in Kasauli.

Let me just show you the video first.

The Woodside is a gated colony with over 30 villas of various sizes and styles, along with a common clubhouse that houses a swimming pool staring into the sunset, gymnasium and other indoor games. The villas are mostly now owned and rented out for staycations or holidays. Most of them can be found on platforms like Airbnb and Make My Trip and if not you can reach out to The Woodside directly via their website or download this brochure.

We planned a 3 nights getaway and as soon as we got there we knew we made a mistake. We should have added more days to the trip. Villa 16 had a dedicated parking, two-person full-time inhouse staff, a grand living room with a grander balcony that brightened up with the sunrise. Let me break it down for you. The anatomy of the villa is such that every square feet is justified.

Ground Floor

  1. A study with a reading chair next to the fireplace under a library, opening into a balcony. The balcony is exactly what you need for your daily yoga. I swear, if I had one of this kind, I could be in the best shape of my life.

  2. A common powder room.

  3. A second master-bedroom with attached bathroom and a balcony.

  4. A guest bedroom with an attached bathroom opening into a mini-lawn, adjacent to the main entrance of the villa.

Basement-

A flight of stairs take you down a floor to the main area of the villa.

  1. Main balcony running across the length of the villa connecting the master-bedroom and the living.

  2. A huge master-bedroom that is an absolute stunner.

  3. Main living room with dining and the kitchen.

Open Lawn-

An external flight of stairs take you down another floor to an open garden/lawn which we decorated for our celebration and had a lovely evening with a barbeque and music.

No matter where you go, we strongly believe that beyond cleanliness and the views, the food makes most of the difference. And here the food is just delicious. We could hardly wait for dinner after lunch. You can order from their menu and you can also cook your own in the fully-equipped kitchen.

The most beautiful part of our stay, of course other than the serenity of the hills far from the city shor, was the open sky. We saw the sun rise and we saw it set. At night we could see the stars twinkle and admire them endlessly. It was like going back to our childhood when we were fascinated by the things happening in the sky. It was like the feeling of 'never wanting to go back'.

We spent our evenings in the clubhouse playing ping-pong and pool, sitting at the pool waiting to witness the sunset, even poured in a little bit of a workout at their hunky gym. We were so at ease not having missed any part of it. A walk down under the night sky from the clubhouse to the villa always seemed like the best idea which concluded at the dinner table.

This villa costed us about a thirty grand per nigh excluding al-a-carte and barbeque. So, if you're looking for a staycation, you know where to go. If you still have any questions, we're more than happy to respond to them in comments under this blog or on our Youtube video.
